Stranger on a Train

To complete my Journal I watched Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train. This movie was pretty decent and a good introduction to Hitchcock as I had never seen one of his movies. The plot was about a killing that Bruno wanted to take place. After meeting on a train Bruno tries to convince Guy that they should kill people for eachother to "get them out of the way." Guy does not think that this is such a good idea as he has a career in tennis and does not want to mess his life up. Guy won't take no for an answer and kills Guy's wife whom he wanted to divorce. Although this might seem alright for Guy since he is with another woman, Bruno comes after him demanding that Guy kill his father. Guy wants nothing to do with killing anyone and tells Bruno he is insane and needs help. Thus starts Bruno's obsession with following Guy and telling him to kill his dad all the time.

Due to Bruno's utter weirdness I chose to research the man wo played him, Robert Walker. Because he was such a creep in the movie I wondered if he was an excellent actor or was actually really weird. It turns out that he was actually similar to what he acted in the film. His wife divorced him after he did a couple movies and partied too hard. He was upset and became even more so when his ex-wife married a producer that Robert knew. He became unstable and was commited to a mental institution and not released for some time. After being released Walker acted ini Strangers on a Train. Shortly after he went insane one night and was killed when his doctor gave him a sedative that reacted poorly with the alcohol in his blood.

Farley Granger was the man who played Guy. In the movie he played the nice guy who wanted to do the right thing. In real life he is similar to his movie role. Starting acting at the age of twelve, he continues to live a happy life enjoying being called one of the "best looking men" of all time. In the movie he played such a role, being a professional tennis player he looked "pretty" and was always looking sharp.
